<LI>Lens Caps!!! (I know this is rather obvious, but you'd be surprised)!!!
<LI>Test your camera before you take it out on a shoot. (otherwise you'll get to a wedding and find the camera you took was chewing up tapes...)
<LI>Make sure you have a spare battery (or at least a recharger with you)...
<LI>Pack up all the stuff you will need the night before you do the shooting. I've read the "Rebel without a tape" story, and it is a good, nae Scrub that, a VERY good reason why you should.
<LI>Your camera is your ONLY and BEST friend on a shoot! Because If it fails, you are STUFFED! (You can replace actors, XTRAs a lot cheaper than a camera)

"Treat your camera like you want to be treated" is the Golden Rule for me. Not only that I know what all of my cameras can do and what it takes to get that from them. I know how to build them in the dark and have my T-stops on top! Become one with your equipment--it is a bit corny and a little to Zen but hell it works!!! Other than that to twist a famous saying "The only way to get on the silver screen is practice."

Keep the dammed thing on a tripod, use the zoom for composition only, and pan slowly.

Follow these camera tips rigidly unless your are make a pop video.

Remember, aquisition is everything. Don't ever take your camera, composition, or anything else for more than it is. "You can't fix it in post". A good rule is shoot to edit. When your sitting in that edit bay after a day of shooting only one rule applies, "Crap going in means Crap coming out!" Live and die by this rule!!!!!!

Always roll the camera before and after the action for a few more seconds than you think you will need.
You will be greatful for it in the edit suite.

Use a piece of glass smudged with vaseline and tape it in front of the lense for a nice dream like effect.
